WHAT CAN BE RECYCLED AND WHERE

REDUCE  REUSE  RECYCLE

Why Recycle

Plastic should be avoided whenever possible. However, we know that this is hard to do when so many items are packaged in plastic.

Recycling plastic is an important step we can take for the environment. Recycling reduces the amount of plastic that is disposed of in landfills. When plastic is recycled it helps conserve resources and reduce the amount of pollution created from manufacturing new plastic. Recycling plastic can also help reduce the amount of toxic chemicals and pollutants that can leach into the environment. By recycling plastic, we can reduce the amount of waste that ends up in our oceans and waterways, and help create a healthier environment.

What Can Be Recycled And Where

Curbside recycling:

Not everything is accepted in curbside recycling. Discarding unacceptable items will contaminate the load and cause many other items in the batch to be tossed into the trash. High on the list of items that cannot be recycled are Styrofoam, black plastic, hoses, plastic film and plastic bags, electronics, and batteries. All food and beverage containers should be rinsed free of food and liquid.

Local grocery store:

Plastic film can be recycled through your grocery store. They accept way more than your plastic produce bag. â€‹
