Adopt-A-Shelf

2nd Saturday of Every Month

As a community organization, Sustainable Southbury has made a commitment to the Southbury Food Bank to fill a shelf with canned fruit on the 2nd Saturday of each month. We are committed to 40+  items per month of canned fruit and apple sauce, The cans should be 15 oz. size or packages of individual servings.

We need additional volunteers to support this very important work we are doing for the Southbury Food Bank.

There are 2 ways in which you can volunteer:

  1. Become a Collector: This person 1 week prior to delivery, places a bin at the end of their driveway or on their porch to collect member donations of canned fruit and applesauce. On the 2nd Saturday of the month between 12:00 and 1:00 pm, the Collector delivers the donations to the Food Bank (88 Main St. South, Southbury).  With enough volunteers you would only be committing to 1 or 2 times per year.

  2. Become a Donator:  drop off your canned fruit and applesauce to the designated collector. They will have a bin in their driveway where you leave your donation the week prior to the 2nd Saturday.
